During the festive period, many workplaces normally host Christmas parties for their staff so they can socialise and celebrate the end of a productive year.

But there is nothing normal about this year, and unfortunately Christmas parties can’t go ahead as usual.

For starters, the whole country is currently in either Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 of coronavirus restrictions.

Even in the best case scenario, in a Tier 1 situation, there is still the rule of six.

But luckily there are still plenty ways of socialising, and even making sure your colleagues have a nice Christmas party.

And no – we don’t just mean hosting a Zoom quiz. After two national lockdowns we understand you might need a break from those.

Here are 10 suggestions to virtual Christmas parties.

1. Festive Bingo

Bingo is a really fun game which can spark competitiveness and interaction between people.

You can find many festive templates online, many are free and can be printed.

For example, you could use this 12 Days Of Christmas Bingo from Noella Designs.

Get your colleagues to print out separate Game Boards, and one person can print the Caller Cards.

The callers needs to pick the Caller Cards randomly, and maybe the winner could get a prize?

2. Virtual Scavenger Hunt

Virtual scavenger hunts are always fun, and festive editions re even better.

You could create a list of items for your team mates to find – such as tinsel, an old candy cane, a Santa hat and an ice skate.

The person who finds the most items get the point.

You can also get people to find the most things beginning with a certain letter, find a bad family photo, bring their worst present they have ever received, or best Christmas decoration.

Or send your team ornament kits in the post before the party.

4. Cosy Holiday readings

It’s not exactly the same as drinking cocktails in a bar, but a live reading of a classic Christmas tale will definitely get you in the spirit.

A few suggestions of stories you can read together is The Night Before Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Nutcracker.

And there is nothing saying you can’t have a hot chocolate or festive cocktail on the side.
